Lawrence Diao is a highly accomplished entrepreneur and engineer with a robust background in technology and finance. He is currently a General Partner at Dragonfly Capital, where he served from April 2021 to February 2023. Previously, Lawrence co-founded and was President of Basis, a cryptocurrency stablecoin project, from August 2017 to January 2020. He also worked at Google as a Software Engineer from July 2015 to September 2017, focusing on Google Search and DoubleClick Bid Manager. Prior to that, he was a Quant Researcher/Developer at Radix Trading from July 2014 to June 2015.
Lawrence has also held technical internships at Sift Science, D. E. Shaw & Co., and Google, contributing to projects in machine learning, quantitative strategies, and predictive text technology. He began his career with internships at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and ASRC Aerospace. He graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University with a focus in computer science and machine learning.
